A car is close to essential. Public transport reaches some gateway towns, but trailheads, beaches, and rainforest valleys are too spread out for a practical no-car visit.
Build extra time into every drive. Roads are two-lane, weather can change quickly, and summer parking at popular spots such as Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rain Forest, and Lake Crescent can fill early.
