Hall of Mosses Trail is the short walk that makes the Hoh Rain Forest instantly legible. In less than a mile it passes huge old trees, hanging moss, nurse logs, and the green, damp abundance that many travellers came to Olympic National Park hoping to see.
Because it is easy and close to the visitor centre, it can be busy, especially in summer. Go early or late if you can, and do not rush it: the trail’s pleasure is in looking closely at the layers of growth rather than ticking off distance.
