Hoh Rain Forest

The Hoh Rain Forest is Olympic's signature green cathedral: Sitka spruce, western hemlock, mossy maples, nurse logs, ferns, and a soft filtered light that makes the whole valley feel underwater.

The Hall of Mosses loop is short and deservedly famous, but the Hoh River Trail lets you keep walking deeper into the valley. Expect mud, crowds in peak season, and a landscape that makes both worthwhile.

A story
The Hoh is one of the finest remaining temperate rainforests in the United States. Its lushness comes not from tropical heat but from Pacific storms that wring astonishing amounts of rain from the Olympic Mountains.
