The easiest way to reach Redmond from Seattle or other Eastside cities is by light rail. The Downtown Redmond Station on the 2 Line opened in 2024 and connects the city directly to Bellevue, Mercer Island, and downtown Seattle. Journey time from downtown Seattle is around 45 minutes. The adjacent Marymoor Village Station serves the park end of town.
By car, Redmond is 15 miles east of Seattle via SR-520 across Lake Washington. The freeway runs directly to the Overlake area near the Microsoft campus. Traffic on SR-520 is heavy during commuting hours but manageable at other times. Interstate 405 runs north-south through the western edge of the city and connects to Bellevue and Renton.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is about 35 miles southwest. The light rail provides a straightforward connection — take Link light rail from the airport to Bellevue and transfer to the 2 Line for Redmond.
