Historic Uniontown is the older heart of the Anacostia area, roughly bounded by Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Good Hope Road, 14th Street, and W Street SE. Its preserved wooden Gothic houses show a side of Washington, DC that feels very different from the monumental core across the river.
The area is best approached as a walkable heritage district rather than a single monument. Look for the older houses and streetscape details, and combine it with other Anacostia sights if you are spending time east of the Anacostia River.
