Rock Creek Cemetery is a large 19th-century cemetery in northern Washington, D.C., with winding paths, mature trees, and an unusual concentration of Gothic and funerary sculpture. It is quieter than the city's better-known memorial landscapes, but it has a strong sense of place.
The best-known grave is the Adams Memorial by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, often called "Grief." Pick up or download a map if you want to find specific memorials, as the grounds are broad and easy to wander through slowly.
