Ulysses S. Grant Memorial

The Ulysses S. Grant Memorial stands west of the U.S. Capitol, facing the Capitol Reflecting Pool. Grant's mounted statue is flanked by dramatic artillery and cavalry groups, making it one of the most forceful monuments on the Capitol grounds.

It is best visited as part of a walk between the Capitol, the National Mall, and the nearby Smithsonian museums. The memorial focuses on Grant as Civil War general rather than as president.
