Snowshoe Mountain Resort is the main draw: a high Allegheny ski area with a village near the summit rather than at the base. Winter is the headline season, with skiing and snowboarding across the Snowshoe Basin, Silver Creek, and Western Territory areas.
It is a commercial resort, so do not come looking for rustic backcountry solitude. Come because the snow, elevation, and lift network make it one of the most useful winter-sports bases in this part of the eastern United States.
