Beaver Creek Reserve is the Eau Claire area's main nature reserve, just outside the city near Fall Creek. The Wise Nature Center is the starting point, with exhibits and staff who can point you toward the right loop before you head into more than 400 acres of woods, wetlands, savannah, river-bottom forest, and trout-stream country.
The reserve is strongest as a half-day outdoor pause, especially if you want birds, quiet trails, or a family-friendly nature stop that is more substantial than a city park. Nearly nine miles of trails wind through the property, and seasonal programs, citizen-science work, and the observatory give it more depth than a simple walking area.
