Downtown Cheyenne — Capitol, depot, downtown blocks, Lakeview Historic District — is compact and easily walked, about 1 km from end to end. The Frontier Days grounds and the Botanic Gardens are 3–4 km out and call for a car, a bike, or a rideshare. Cheyenne has a small transit service (CTP) but coverage is limited and headways are long.
I-25 and I-80 cross at the south edge of the city, making Cheyenne the natural base for road trips into the rest of Wyoming or south to Colorado. Free street parking is easy except during Frontier Days, when downtown access tightens dramatically. Bring a windbreaker; the wind is a permanent feature of life here.
