Pinedale is on US-191 in western Wyoming, about 110 miles south of Jackson Hole and 170 miles southeast of Idaho Falls. There is no commercial airport in Pinedale; the nearest with regular service is Jackson Hole Airport, about 1.5 hours north, or Rock Springs Municipal Airport, about 90 miles south.
By road, US-191 is the main route north to Jackson Hole and south to Rock Springs, where it connects to I-80. The drive from Salt Lake City takes about 4.5 hours. The roads are well-maintained in summer; winter driving requires preparation. A car is essential — there is no public transportation to or within Pinedale.
