Lake Marie Trail

The trail above Lake Marie follows cliff edges in the Snowy Range with sweeping views of the Medicine Bow peaks and the lake below. The full out-and-back covers around 9 miles at altitude, through terrain that is open and exposed. Summer wildflowers are excellent in July and August.

Weather at this elevation changes fast. Clear mornings can become afternoon thunderstorms without much warning, and temperatures drop sharply even in midsummer. Bring layers and watch the sky. The trailhead sits alongside Highway 130, accessible only when the Snowy Range Road is open.
