By air. The main entry point is Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St. Thomas, which has direct flights from New York (JFK and EWR), Newark, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, and Chicago. American, Delta, United, JetBlue, and Spirit all fly there. Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) on St. Croix receives fewer direct flights but is served from Miami and other hubs. There is no commercial airport on St. John — you fly to St. Thomas and take the ferry.
By sea. St. Thomas is one of the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean. Ships dock at two terminals: Havensight (close to Charlotte Amalie) and Crown Bay (slightly further west). Day visitors can walk or take a taxi from either into town.
From Puerto Rico. Regular flights connect San Juan (SJU) with both STT and STX — a useful option if you're combining the USVI with Puerto Rico. Cape Air offers multiple daily short-hop flights. You can also reach St. Thomas by ferry from Fajardo on Puerto Rico's east coast.
Documents. US citizens do not need a passport for the USVI, but carry one if you intend to visit the British Virgin Islands. Non-US citizens should check visa requirements — the USVI falls under US immigration rules.
