Bodega Bianchi

Bianchi is San Rafael's best-known winery, founded in 1928 by Italian immigrant Valentín Bianchi and now run by the third generation of the family. The flagship Champaña Tradicional is one of the more famous sparkling wines in Argentina, made in the classic method since the 1970s.

Visitor tours run through the modern facility on the edge of the town — vineyard walk, tank rooms, cellar, tasting. The newer Casa Bianchi visitor centre, an angular modern building west of town, hosts the higher-end tastings and a restaurant. Bookings are sensible in high season.

San Rafael's tour prices are dramatically lower than in Mendoza city or Luján de Cuyo, often less than half. A long lunch at the restaurant is the standard ending.
