San Rafael's adventure scene is concentrated in one place: Valle Grande, thirty-odd kilometres out along Ruta 173, where the Río Atuel runs out of the canyon below the dam. Rafting here is gentler than at Potrerillos — grade II, suitable for children — and the operators line the same few kilometres of road, adding catamarans on the reservoir, zip lines and abseiling.
