By air: Ilhéus Jorge Amado Airport (IATA: IOS) is served by direct flights from São Paulo and Salvador, with connections onward. The airport is about 3km from the city centre — taxis are readily available.
By bus: The rodoviária is centrally located. Regular buses connect Ilhéus with Salvador (about 7 hours on the coastal road, or faster via the BR-415), Porto Seguro (about 4 hours), and Itacaré (about 1.5 hours on a winding but scenic coastal road).
By car: Ilhéus is on the BA-001 coastal highway, 460km south of Salvador. The drive takes about 5–6 hours via the BR-101.
