By air: The nearest airport is in Ilhéus, about 65 km south, with daily flights from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador. Several private transfer services run between the airport and Itacaré, taking about 90 minutes; agencies in town can book a return.
By bus: Regular Rota and Águia Branca buses connect Itacaré with Ilhéus (about 1.5 hours on a winding but scenic coastal road), Salvador (about 6 hours, often via Camamu and a ferry across the Bay of All Saints), and Porto Seguro (about 6 hours). The rodoviária is in the centre of town.
By car: The BA-001 coastal road from Ilhéus to Itacaré is one of the most beautiful drives in southern Bahia, with the Atlantic on one side and forest on the other. From Salvador, the longer route via the BR-101 inland is faster than waiting for the ferry but less scenic.
