Vila Velha does not have its own airport. Vitória Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport (VIX) serves the metropolitan area and is actually located in Vitória, about 10 kilometres from Vila Velha. Taxis and app-based ride services connect the airport to Vila Velha in 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. There is no direct metro link.
By bus, Vila Velha is well connected to other Espírito Santo cities and to Rio de Janeiro (around 8–9 hours). The main bus terminal (Terminal de Vila Velha) is in the centre of the city. Long-distance services from Rio and São Paulo operate overnight.
Driving from Rio de Janeiro takes roughly 7 hours via the BR-101. Vila Velha sits at the southern end of Vitória's urban area, and getting into and around the metropolitan area by car requires patience during rush hours.
