Praia da Costa is Vila Velha's main urban beach: a long, straight stretch of sand with a wide promenade, plenty of beach kiosks selling caipirinhas and grilled snacks, and reliable conditions for swimming. It fills up on weekends with locals from across the metropolitan area but remains manageable on weekdays.
The beach runs for about 3 kilometres and is well maintained. The water is generally calm thanks to the bay's partial enclosure, making it more suitable for families with young children than an ocean beach would be. The promenade is popular for evening walks and cycling, and there are good fish restaurants in the streets immediately behind it.
