Getting There

Joinville's Lauro Carneiro de Loyola airport has regular flights from São Paulo and the main Brazilian hub cities. The airport sits 13 kilometres south of the centre and is connected by a cheap shuttle bus.

Most people, though, arrive overland. The BR-101 coastal highway runs straight through the city and intercity buses connect to Curitiba (around two hours), Florianópolis (around three), and São Paulo (around ten). The bus terminal is on the eastern edge of the centre.

Within the city, local buses cover most of the grid, but a hire car is useful if you want to reach the Estrada Bonita and the Babitonga Bay properly.
