Mirante de Joinville

The Mirante de Joinville is the panoramic viewpoint above the city, reached by a short steep road up the Morro Boa Vista. From the platform you look out over the whole urban grid, the Atlantic Forest hills, and on a clear day all the way to the Babitonga Bay.

The site has a small park, a chapel, and the inevitable kiosks selling cold drinks and ice cream. Best visited at the end of the day for the sunset.

A story
The mirante sits on top of the Morro Boa Vista, the hill that dominates the northern edge of the city. The road up was built in the 1970s as a tourist project and almost never used until a sandwich kiosk opened at the top. Today it is the favourite spot of every Joinvillense over the age of fifty to bring out-of-town visitors at sunset.
