The Campos Gerais Museum is the place to start if you want Ponta Grossa to feel like more than a base for Vila Velha and the surrounding canyons. Its collections cover the settlement, daily life, photographs, documents, and material culture of the Campos Gerais, the highland region that shaped the city.
It is a modest regional museum, but a useful one: the exhibits give context to the tropeiro routes, immigrant communities, railways, and agricultural economy that made this part of Paraná distinctive. Visit early in your stay and the streets and old buildings around the centre make more sense afterwards.
