The Municipal Museum of Castro is a small but useful introduction to ChiloƩ's island culture, with archaeological material, photographs, religious objects, wooden tools, and models of local boats and churches. It is close to the plaza, so it is easy to fit into a walk around the centre.
Come here early in your stay if the weather closes in. The museum gives context to the wooden architecture and rural traditions you will see across the archipelago.
