Things to Do

Chiloé rewards slow travel. The islands are best explored by car or bike, stopping at whichever wooden church or seafront village catches your eye. Most of the 16 UNESCO churches are in small villages accessible only on unpaved roads, and the approach is part of the experience. The main island has enough to fill a week; the smaller islands in the archipelago require ferries and add another layer of remoteness.
