Things to Do

Gorgona's trails, waters, and wildlife are the whole point of being here. Your assigned guide will shape each day around what your group wants to do.

Several walking trails wind through the rainforest, all worthwhile for the chance to see the island's unique ecosystem up close. The standout is the trail to Bahia Cocal, a beach on the far side of the island -- a full-day trip through jungle that ends at a breathtaking stretch of sand with views of Gorgonilla, a smaller neighboring island. The old prison ruins and a small museum are worth a visit for the eerie history.

Snorkeling and diving are excellent, with spots suited to both beginners and experienced divers. A diving station on the island rents equipment and offers courses. A boat trip around the island is a must. During whale season (August to October), humpback sightings from the beach become a daily highlight.
