Salento is the gateway to the Cocora valley and its wax palms, the tallest palm in the world and Colombia's national tree. The Willys jeeps leave the main square from six in the morning.
The other reason to be here is coffee. The fincas around the town receive visitors, and the good ones walk you through the whole process rather than handing you a cup at the end.
