San Agustín's main draws are all archaeological. The sites are scattered across a wide area on both sides of the Magdalena gorge, and seeing the best of them requires two or three days. Horseback excursions reach the more remote groups; the main park is walkable. Between sites, the highland landscape — forested hills, river crossings, small farms — is striking in its own right.
