Getting There

By air. Eloy Alfaro International Airport (MEC) sits at the southern edge of the city. Daily direct flights from Quito (about 35 minutes) and several flights weekly from Guayaquil. International service is limited but seasonal flights have run to Panama City.

By bus. The terminal terrestre is on Vía Manta-Rocafuerte, east of the centre. Frequent buses to Guayaquil (3.5 hours), Quito (8–9 hours), Portoviejo (45 minutes), Bahía de Caráquez (2 hours), and Puerto López (2 hours). Long-distance coach companies (Reina del Camino, Coactur) are the most comfortable.

By road. Manta sits on the E15 Ruta del Spondylus coast highway, the scenic route along Ecuador's central Pacific. Driving down from Quito is roughly six hours via Santo Domingo.
