The Pano River joins the Tena River right in town, and a trail follows its bank upstream through secondary jungle. The walk is flat, easy, and takes about two hours round trip. You will hear more birds than you see — the jungle canopy is dense — but butterflies are everywhere and you may spot river turtles basking on rocks. It is a good option for travellers who want some jungle time without committing to a full-day tour.
The trailhead is walkable from the town centre, across the footbridge on the south side. Go early morning for the best birding.
