The Bateau École de Kourou teaches the licence — the reason most locals know it — and takes visitors out with it: the Îles du Salut, the rivers, the coast where the turtles come ashore, and fishing days. Charters start around three hundred and twenty euros.
It sits on the Dégrad Saramaca road west of the town, at the river landing rather than in Kourou itself.
