Eating Out

Eating in Areguá centres on the lakefront and the lower stretch of Calle Estigarribia. Most places are small, family-run, and serve Paraguayan staples: chipa, sopa paraguaya (a maize cornbread), mbeju (cassava-cheese flatbread), and grilled river fish from the lake.

In strawberry season, almost everything on the menu can also be ordered with strawberries on the side.
