Salto del Monday is the major waterfall excursion on the Paraguayan side of the tri-border region. The Monday River drops through a broad basalt break, creating a forceful curtain of water in a green ravine just outside the urban sprawl of Ciudad del Este.
It does not have the scale of Iguazu, but it is far easier to visit briefly and gives Paraguay its own natural spectacle in the region. Platforms and paths make it a practical half-day outing from Ciudad del Este.
