Pimentel has an attractive beach and enough bars and restaurants to make an afternoon of it. A slowly disintegrating wooden pier with an old train rail adds atmosphere, especially in the fog. Traditional cane fishing boats (caballitos de totora) line the beach.
Santa Rosa is close enough to walk to, but watch out for the sun.
