Getting There

Huacachina is about five kilometres from the centre of Ica — a 10-minute taxi ride that costs 10 to 15 soles. There is no direct long-distance bus service into Huacachina itself; you arrive in Ica and continue from there.

Most hostels and hotels in Huacachina will arrange free or low-cost pickup from the Ica bus terminal if you book in advance. Frequent bus services connect Lima with Ica (4 to 5 hours) and continue south to Nazca (2 hours), Arequipa (10 to 12 hours), and onward to the Bolivian border. Cruz del Sur, Oltursa, and Civa run the most reliable long-distance services.

To return, taxis are available throughout the day from the strip of restaurants by the lagoon; ask any hotel and one will appear within minutes. There is no airport in or near Huacachina; the closest is Pisco (about 80 km north), used mainly for short scenic flights over the Nazca Lines.
