The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity faces the Plaza Constitución, Huancayo's main square. The building is large and imposing — its twin towers are the most prominent structures in the city centre — but the interior rewards a visit. The nave is high and cool, with coloured light filtering through stained glass windows depicting scenes from the life of Christ and the history of the Andean church.
Mass draws large congregations from across the valley on Sundays, when the plaza outside fills with market vendors and the atmosphere is particularly vivid. The cathedral is open to visitors throughout the day; dress modestly and step in even if you have no religious interest — it is the architectural anchor of the city and the best place to get your bearings before exploring the market streets that fan out in every direction.
