Bodega El Catador

El Catador is a small family-run bodega in the village of Tres Esquinas, just outside Ica. The setting is more traditional than the big commercial wineries — adobe buildings, old wooden presses, and a small museum showing how pisco was made by hand in the nineteenth century.

The tour is short and free, ending with a tasting of around half a dozen piscos and macerados (pisco infused with fruit). The on-site restaurant serves good criollo food. El Catador is particularly busy in March during the grape harvest festival, when the press is in use and visitors can watch the whole process.
