Ica's climate is famously dry — the city sits in one of the driest deserts on earth and sees almost no rain. Temperatures are warm year-round, peaking around 30°C in the summer months of December to March and dropping to the low 20s in winter. Nights are cool to chilly even in summer.
The big local events are the Vendimia grape harvest festival in early March, which brings parades, pisco tastings, and a queen-of-the-vine competition; and the processions of the Señor de Luren in October. Either is a good reason to visit, but both push prices up and book out the better hotels.
