Catarata del Tirol is the standard first waterfall trip from La Merced. It lies near San Ramon, about 17 km away, and the walk from the road is short enough for most visitors.
The path follows a green gorge to the falls. Go in shoes that can handle wet stone, and try to arrive before tour groups if you want the place quieter.
