A metal viewing tower erected alongside the Panamericana highway, about 30 km north of Nazca town, that allows visitors to see three of the Nazca geoglyphs — the Hands, the Tree, and the Lizard — from the ground. The view is a reasonable introduction to the scale of the lines for those who cannot take a flight, though it shows only a small portion of what the plain contains.
The tower costs a small entry fee. It sits next to the Maria Reiche Museum, making a combined stop practical. Bear in mind that the line figures are designed for aerial appreciation; from the ground the perspective is foreshortened and the shapes less legible. The flight remains the definitive experience.
