Pacasmayo sits on the Pan-American Highway between Trujillo (110 km south) and Chiclayo (105 km north). Buses on the Trujillo–Chiclayo route stop at Pacasmayo, with the journey from Trujillo taking about 1.5 hours and from Chiclayo about the same. From Lima, the journey is about 6–7 hours on overnight buses with Cruz del Sur or similar companies.
The turnoff from the Pan-American is clearly signed. Taxis and mototaxis are the main transport within town; the town centre is compact enough to walk.
