Peperpot Nature Park

Former coffee and cacao plantation reclaimed by forest, with easy trails and excellent birdlife

Peperpot turns an abandoned coffee and cacao plantation into one of the easiest wildlife walks near Paramaribo. The foundation managing the roughly 820-hectare property maintains paths through secondary forest, old canals, and traces of the plantation landscape.

Come early, move quietly, and look for monkeys, lizards, butterflies, and a long list of birds. The level paths are far easier than an interior forest trek, though heat, mosquitoes, and sudden rain still apply. Check current opening hours before crossing the river and bring water.
