Cerro Pan de Azucar

Sugarloaf hill north of Piriapolis with a cross-topped summit and wide coastal views.

Cerro Pan de Azucar rises inland from Piriapolis and gives the area its strongest natural landmark. The summit is topped by a large cross, and the climb rewards you with a wide view over the town, the coast, and the rolling Maldonado countryside.

Go early on hot days and take water. The hill is close enough to combine with Castillo de Piria, but it feels more like a small hike than a roadside viewpoint.
