The Cine Rialto on Carrera 19 was one of Barquisimeto's grand cinemas of the mid-20th century, opened in 1948 with a single auditorium seating over a thousand. It was where the city's middle class watched Mexican golden-age melodramas and the first wave of Hollywood spectaculars.
It closed as a working cinema decades ago and has been repurposed and partially restored, but the façade and marquee survive and the building remains a downtown landmark for anyone interested in the architectural fabric of mid-century Venezuelan cities. Worth a five-minute look if you are walking the centre.
