Barquisimeto's centre is walkable and laid out on a grid, with the cathedral, Plaza Bolívar, and the Museo de Barquisimeto all within a few blocks of each other. The Obelisco at the western edge of town is the city's defining landmark; the kinetic-art pavilion La Flor de Venezuela sits on the opposite side along Avenida Venezuela. Sunset over the Turbio valley is the local ritual — the sky reliably turns through pink, orange, and violet, and any high terrace will do.
