Getting There

Béjaïa is served by Soummam–Abane Ramdane Airport (IATA: BJA), about 5km south of the city centre, with flights from Paris (Air Algérie and Transavia), Marseille, and Lyon. The airport is small but functional. Taxis from the airport to the centre are inexpensive by European standards.

By road, Béjaïa is about 220km east of Algiers on the RN12, a journey of 3–4 hours depending on traffic. Long-distance buses connect to Algiers, Sétif, and Tizi Ouzou regularly. The road approach from the west through the Kabyle mountains is spectacular, particularly the descent into the Soummam valley.
