Getting There

Blida is 45 km southwest of Algiers and easily reached as a day trip from the capital.

By train. Frequent suburban trains run from Algiers Agha and Algiers Centre stations to Blida in around an hour. The Blida railway station is on the northern edge of the centre, a short walk or taxi from Place des Martyrs.

By bus and louage. Buses run regularly from the main Algiers bus terminal (El Hamiz) and the gare routière at Caroubier. Shared taxis (louages) from Algiers are faster but more expensive.

By car. The A1 motorway runs directly south from Algiers and exits at Blida. The drive is straightforward but the urban approaches at both ends can be slow at rush hour. To reach Chréa, continue south through Blida on the small mountain road; the climb takes about 45 minutes from the city centre.

By air. Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers is the nearest air gateway, about an hour from Blida by taxi.
