Catumbela's position between two larger cities makes day trips easy in either direction. Benguela, 15km south, is the provincial capital and has the region's best colonial architecture, a beach at Restinga, and the main market. Lobito, 25km north, is Angola's principal deep-water port and has a striking peninsula neighbourhood (the Restinga) with a long beach running its length. Both are reachable by shared minibus in under 30 minutes.
