Porto Amboim lies about 250 km south of Luanda along the EN100 coastal road. The road is mostly paved and passable, though conditions vary depending on the season and recent maintenance. By private car the drive takes roughly three to four hours from the capital. Shared taxis and minibuses (candongueiros) from Luanda's Rodoviária bus terminal cover the route, though journey times are unpredictable.
There is no regular air service to Porto Amboim. The nearest airstrip at nearby Sumbe (Sumbe Airport) occasionally receives charter flights, but most travellers arrive by road. Fuel is available in town, but fill up before leaving Luanda or Lobito to be safe.
