Moremi covers the eastern third of the Okavango Delta and is the only formally protected part of it. The reserve combines floodplains, lagoons, and dry woodland, which means an unusual density and variety of wildlife in a relatively compact area. Lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, giraffes, and the endangered African wild dog all live here.
The dry season from July to October is the best time to visit — animals gather around the remaining water and the bush thins out, making sightings easier. The main camps are Third Bridge, Xakanaxa, and South Gate. A 4x4 is essential and you must be fully self-sufficient with fuel, water, and food. Advance booking of campsites is required through the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.
