Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport is the main gateway, about 25 kilometres south of the city centre. Taxis from the airport to central Yaoundé take 30–45 minutes depending on traffic; agree the fare before getting in. There is no rail connection between the airport and the city.
By rail, the Camrail network connects Yaoundé to Douala in the west and to Ngaoundéré in the north. The Yaoundé–Douala train takes around four hours and offers a comfortable alternative to the road; the overnight train north to Ngaoundéré, from which buses serve N'Djamena and beyond, is a classic Central African journey. The main train station (Gare de Yaoundé) is in the city centre.
By road, Yaoundé is connected to Douala (three to four hours by bus or shared taxi), Bafoussam (four hours), and other regional cities via a network of intercity buses and shared taxis (agences de voyage). Binam, Buca, and Général Express are reliable operators with offices near the station.
